Attended the Lights Transference and Wish Aspiration Ceremony at Kong Meng San Phor Kark See Monastery this evening. The Venerable lit my lotus candle with his, and I passed it on to my aunt and so on. So says the Vimalakirti Sutra: “A single lamp may light hundreds of thousands of lamps without itself being diminished.”
I have been attending this ceremony since I was in secondary school, it's an annual tradition which has been passed on to me from my elders. Very tired now after a brisk walk through the Bright Hill compound. Dedicating any merits to both benefactors and debtors alike, it's a good thing to be a Buddhist here in Singapore where there is religious freedom and right to practise one's religious beliefs.
