I trust Singaporeans, I also don't know why, but when I visit other countries, their residents might sound good and feel good, but I only feel at ease and at home whenever I come back home to Singapore. To be fair, Singaporeans are cranky but they are a thoughtful and considerate bunch. I grew up the past 44 years with "Sinkies" and I swear by them especially when in times of great need.
I still remember when the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami took place many years ago, I was at the adhoc SPH command centre helping to sort out donation items. Back then I saw with my own eyes how hands on and loving fellow Singaporeans are as they showed up in full force pooling together all kinds of helpful gifts that they wished to reach out to those in grave need. That experience convinced me that, no matter how Singaporeans appear to be aloof and cold at times, we are always paying attention to moments that might actually matter.
Singaporeans might appear to be harsh at times, but trust me, they are the best which money can never buy. If I ever found myself at war with another nation, I will only want to be in the same foxhole as a fellow Singaporean, because I know deep down that only Singaporeans can be fully trusted. Happy 2026 Kindness Day Singapore!
