I have been a fan of Sheffield Wednesday Football Club since the year 1994 when it was a challenger of the FA and League Cups to Arsenal. Back then SWFC was in the Premier League, but it is long past its heydays and have since dropped to the second tier Championship. Due to financial mismanagement, it was further penalised by having 18 points deducted, and it has constantly been in the last position of the Championship and was relegated to the third tier League One as early as February this year.
The only sort of good news I hear this very day is the announcement that the previous owners have been taken out of business by a U.S. consortium Arise Capital Partners, and because of the successful takeover, SWFC avoids another 15-point deduction as it begins the next season in League One. Phew.
Imagine that, 0 points! You have to be really talented to end a season without a single point to your credit, and SWFC have successfully achieved such an impossible feat. Sigh.
It has been a long season. I am happy that it has finally ended. League One football, let it come! No big deal being relegated, we do our best and make the most out of whatever life throws at us. When life gives us lemons, we make lemonade!
