Qing Ming 2026

Very grateful for a fuss free Qing Ming observance this afternoon. I spent around two decades fighting the views and traditions of Christianity and Buddhism, because my paternal grandparents died as Christians while my maternal grandparents died as Buddhists, so there was a gap in religious views to be bridged.

I still remember during my paternal grandfather's funeral wake, my dad wanted to offer him food as a prayer item at granddad's altar, and our Christian cousins scolded my dad. It was a major crack in the relationships amongst our extended family, because the Christians simply cannot get along with the non-Christians.

As I started to take charge of religious rites these days as I age, I have since become somewhat opinionated about how our faith should be upheld. To me, it's either MY way, or the highway. I insist on doing things my Buddhist way, even if it's wrong, and I will not be changed.
