A Simpler Afterlife

Some people believe in YOLO ie you only live once. Because of YOLO, the result is that YODO ie you only die once. If you believe in YODO, it makes sense to have a good funeral and cremation arrangements.

For me, I am a Zen Buddhist and I believe in cyclical existence or reincarnation. This means that my death this life is just one of the zillions of times I would have to die. Since death is so repetitive in Buddhist Dharma, it's ok to be less wasteful and go for a light-hearted, noninvasive funeral and cremation arrangements.

I have pledged to donate my cadaver to National Organ Transplant Unit when I die, the medical students will dissect me as a specimen to train their surgical skills. This arrangement is known as MTERA. I don't need a niche or good funeral, I merely prefer to recycle my corpse when I die and maximise utility.

I am also working with Brain Bank Singapore to harvest my brain matter when I die. So far my family objects, so I'm still negotiating the details.
