Washing the Bowl
A monk told Joshu: "I have just entered the monastery. Please teach me." Joshu asked, "Have you eaten?" The monk replied, "Yes, I have eaten." Joshu said: "Then you had better wash your bowl." At the moment the monk was enlightened.
Zen is everyday life: natural, orderly. Things are done one at a time. The truth is simple and direct. Trouble comes from conceptualisation and speculation.
